Maverick City Music recently celebrated Black History Month with the release of their new EP, Breath. This 2022 project has both live and studio versions of songs from their Grammy-nominated 2021 live album, Jubilee: Juneteenth. Breath includes the title track single, as well as “Joy of the Lord” and “Make It Right.”
“Each song continues to speak personally to us as we move into new seasons and reflect on all we’ve come from, and we can’t wait to hear how they minister to you,” Maverick City Music mentioned in a statement. The EP features renowned contemporary Christian music artists like Chandler Moore, Joe L. Barnes, Naomi Raine, Maryanne J. George, and Dante Bowe. Maverick City Music was nominated in four categories at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, in which they won the award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Apart from the Grammys, Maverick City Music has won two GMA Dove Awards and one Billboard Music Award.
Maverick City Music brings along co-headliner Kirk Franklin on the Kingdom Tour. Franklin has been dominating the contemporary Christian music charts since the ‘90s. He is best known for his hit singles, “Looking for You,” “I Smile,” “Wanna Be Happy?” and “123 Victory.” The “Reigning King of Urban Gospel” has won 16 Grammy Awards, 22 GMA Dove Awards, one American Music Award, 23 Stellar Awards, one Urban Music Award, and one Soul Train Award.
