Mastodon is an Atlanta-based heavy metal band comprising bassist and singer Troy Sanders, lead guitarist and singer Brent Hinds, rhythm guitarist and singer Bill Kelliher, and drummer Brann Dailor.
Mastodon's eighth studio album, Hushed and Grim, was released as a double album on October 29, 2021. The album peaked at number 20 on the Billboard 200, first on the Top Hard Rock Albums list, and second on the Top Rock Albums chart. According to Rolling Stone, "Hushed and Grim never stops giving, and the album’s energy, depth, and power make it a completely unique addition to the band’s mammoth catalog."
Gojira consists of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Joe Duplantier, drummer Mario Duplantier, lead guitarist Christian Andreu, and bassist Jean-Michel Labadie.
Fortitude, the band's most recent album, was dubbed "one of 2021's most widely awaited metal albums," and includes the track "Amazonia," which was published as part of the band's month-long fundraising for a Brazilian indigenous rights movement. It reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs list, and the band's single "Born for One Thing" reached number 18.
