On September 27th, Salt Lake City will be bursting with energy and heavy music as rock heavyweights Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace set foot on the stage at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater.
The two bands are back on the stage with a new co-headlining tour, following the return of vocalist Adam Gontier back into Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin’s new single release in five years titled “Awaken”. As for the supporting act, joining the two hardrock giants is the new blood rock band the Return To Dust.
Breaking Benjamin is an American rock band formed in 1999 by vocalist and guitarist Benjamin Burnley. The name of the band is a trip back in time to Burnley’s early days working as a musician, when he was known to be that guy who broke everything he touched. The band started as a trio and released an EP in 2001. Later that year, Freddie Fabbri, a DJ from the rock radio station WBSX, aired the track “Polyamorous” from the EP which is considered to be Breaking Benjamin’s first breakthrough. Fabbri helped the band finance making more EP copies and ended up selling all 2,000 copies of it.
In 2002, the band signed to Hollywood Records and released their debut album “Saturate”, one of the most influential rock and hardrock albums of all time, and is the band’s mainstream breakthrough. Breaking Benjamin released three more studio albums before Burnley’s health problems placed the band on a break in 2010. The band returned to recording in 2014 with a new lineup of musicians. The new group released their fifth album, “Dark Before Dawn”, in 2015 and became the number 1 album on the chart within the first hour of going up as a pre-order.
The rock icons have released six studio albums to date and 23 singles. Popular tracks are “The Diary Of Jane”, “Breath”, and “Angels Fall”. Breaking Benjamin have consistently produced successful and innovative music since formation, despite various member changes and the big break, and continues to grow as musicians alongside the ever expanding fan base.
Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock band, formerly known as Groundswell, and regrouped under their current name in 1997. Under the new reformed band, they produced a new demo, which consisted of their well known track “I Hate Everything About You”, and sent it to EMI Music Publishing Canada. The band’s unique heavy music grew in popularity amongst producers and later led to the band signing multiple record labels.
In 2003 the band released their first and debut self-titled studio album, with the popular track from their demo leading the release. “I Hate Everything About You” topped the Canadian rock chart at No.1, and Three Days Grace received an award for "Favourite New Artist" at the CASBY Awards. The band’s success grew further when they released their second studio album One-X with hit single “Animal I Have Become”.
They released two more studio albums before Adam Gontier’s departure in 2013. New vocalist Matt Walst took the mic and recorded three studio albums as part of Three Days Grace. In 2024, the band announced the return of Gontier as lead vocalist. So far, the band has released seven studio albums and 27 singles, some of which are Platinum certified.
Return To Dust is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles, for the next generation. They embody everything iconic about rock, and they fuzz up the riffs for a fresh, modern take.
